Welcome to new nonprofits:

A new directory of Alexandria nonprofits as well as Boards and Commissions has been compiled by Leadership Alexandria.  For access to this directory, click here.

For twenty-six years, the Alexandria Volunteer Bureau has partnered with local non-profits to provide community volunteers to fulfill unmet needs in various organizations. Needs range from weekly volunteer time commitments, requests for individuals with specific skills sets and volunteers for one-time events. We will do our best to help you find volunteers for your organization. We hope this website is helpful in achieving that goal.

 

In exchange, we ask that you keep us abreast of changes with your organization and needs you may have. Please send us updated promotional materials for our office so we may connect individuals that stop-by AVB with your agency.

Finally, each fall AVB solicits nominations from various non-profit organizations for our Volunteer Service Awards. Volunteers are an invaluable part of the non-profit community. We ask you to remember individuals who serve your organization or agency over the course of the year and consider nominating those who have had a significant impact.

AVB is pleased to announce that we are now connected with 1-800-VOLUNTEER (www.1800volunteer.org ). The link to this software will help us improve our services by increasing our ability to manage our volunteer database, post events and volunteer requests for your organization. We will also be able to manage emergency volunteers and send rapid response requests on short notice. Through 1-800-VOLUNTEER, we hope our website will become more user-friendly.

When you register with AVB, you may post your wish list on our site. By posting your list here as well as on your agencies website, we hope to increase visibility of items you need.
